Chile Relief

The morning of February 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 hit the city of Concepcion, Chile. For a full 24 hours, aftershocks with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted the city. 500,000 houses were destroyed or badly damaged. Over 700 people have been confirmed dead, with countless others still missing. As nightfall approached on that first day, hundreds of people set up tents and huddled around wood fires in parks and grassy medians. Electricity and running water are currently out of service. Chile needs field hospitals, temporary bridges, water purification plants, and damage assessment experts.

The greatest gift we can give at this time is our financial support to help with the damage assessment and rebuilding efforts. Please make any monetary donations to VHUMC.
