their mothers who are in prison.
Learn
about pending legislation that impacts the poor by participating
in Alabama Arise, an ecumenical advocacy group.
Help
prepare and serve dinner at the Firehouse Shelter for homeless
men.
Spend the night at First Light, a shelter for homeless women
operated by First Presbyterian Church.
Work
with Habitat for Humanity to help build a house.
Do
minor household repairs for older adults.
Tutor
a child who is having difficulty in school at St. Mark's Episcopal
Church.
Collect
jars for the cannery at the Upper Sand Mountain Parish. (If
you have a place to store jars until they are delivered, that
would be a big help.)
Bring
a bag of groceries or make a contribution for our hunger ministry.
Be
a greeter, answer the phone at St. Anne's Home, a treatment
center for alcoholic women.
Donate
clothing to the Church of the Reconciler.
Make
a donation to our Emergency Relief Fund, to help Greater Birmingham
Ministries (and others) provide direct assistance to those
in need.
Become
involved in the Kairos prison ministry at Donaldson Correctional
Facility.
Give
blood and/or work at one of our blood drives.
Help
the youth with the Sweetheart Banquet and Auction in February.
Help
fund outreach projects by working with the Great Garage Sale.
Correspond
with a missionary-Kay Twilley in Bolivia; Dale and Kelly Clem
in Lithuania; or Rhett Thompson in Panama. (This can be done
by e-mail.)
Participate
in our Hands-On Mission Workday.
Buy
a Christmas gift for one of the children on the Angel Tree
or through the Festival of Three Kings.
Adopt
a family for Christmas.
Volunteer
for an international work trip.
Become
part of a Care Team, Outreach Team, or Ministry Team.
