Incarnation
is the central affirmation of Christian faith.
In Jesus of Nazareth,
The Word became a human being
and, full of grace and truth, lived among us.
John 1:14
This
is more than an event of the past.
Incarnation is the truth about
how God is present and working in the world,
namely, in, through, and
among human beings.
In
the lives of persons all about us,
the blessings of God await us.
The question of the Matthew 25 parable –
When did we see you? –
is answered in terms of persons in need.
The Colossians declaration that Christ is in you
is inclusive of Gentiles and Jews – all!
Incarnation
means time is anointed
with an eternal presence and grace,
and the time is now, the place is here.
Grace
for daily living, then,
is a here and now reality
for those able and willing to see.
In the life of every person we meet,
there is the potential of being graced.
For
those able and willing to see!
A key issue for us is awareness.
How do we stay alert to the blessing of God
in the lives of others?
This moment of time is full of grace
for those who see!
